CLUB EXECUTIVES

Russ George

Club President and Chairman of the Board

Russ George, a Type 2 Diabetic, has been a Cosmo for over 50 years, joining the Cosmopolitan Club of Aurora in 1967.

Russ first served as Club President in 1971, and again in the late 70’s, then went on to serve as Governor of the Mid-States Federation twice in the 80’s. Russ was elected to the Cosmopolitan International Board in 1988 and served as International President in 1991-92.

In July of 2018, Russ again assumed the office of President and Chairman of the Board of the Cosmopolitan Club of Aurora, Inc. Currently serving as the Club’s CEO, Russ also Chairs the Marketing/Publicity Committee.

Paul Smith

Club Vice President Of Events

Paul Smith, a Type 1 Diabetic, became a member in 2015, currently serves as Vice President of Special Events, and Co-Chairperson of the Club’s “A Night at the Farm” Fundraiser, in addition to serving as the Club’s Liaison with the American Diabetes Association.

Paul is a seven year ADA Volunteer, helping to raise money for research, education and wellness, while participating in several ADA “Tour de Cure” Fundraisers.

Paul has received both the “Rookie of the Year” and “Cosmo of the Year” Awards.

Jackie Klaisner

Club Treasurer 

Jackie Klaisner, a Type 1 Diabetic for over 20 years, became a Cosmo Member in 2016, and currently serves as the Club’s Treasurer. Jackie is a Branch Manager for the Kane County Teacher’s Credit Union, and was very instrumental in helping the Club obtain it’s 501(c)(3) Non-Profit Organization status.

Jackie has also served the American Diabetes Association as a Summer Camp Counselor, at Camp Discovery.

Donna Carter

Club/Board Secretary 

Donna Carter, a Type 2 Diabetic, joined the club in 2019, and currently serves as Secretary to both the Board and the Club.

Donna is the Program Coordinator for Rush Copley Outpatient Diabetes Wellness Center, and has been helping Diabetics for over 18 years.

Donna is currently serving as Co-Chair of the Club’s “A Night at the Farm” Fundraiser.

LaVonne Hawking

Board Member

LaVonne Hawking joined the club in 2004, served 14 years as Club Secretary, plus 4 years as Club President, in addition to serving 2 years as Mid-States Governor.

LaVonne was then elected as Vice President of Membership for Cosmopolitan International, and served 2 years on the International Board. LaVonne has won the “Community Service”, “Cosmo of the Year”, and “Club President of the Year” Awards, and currently serves on the Club’s Membership, Fundraising, and Awards Committees, also on the Cosmopolitan International Awards Committee.

Pat Jones

Board Member

Pat Jones is a Type 2 Diabetic, became a member in 2014, and served several years as Sergeant-At-Arms. Pat currently serves on the American Diabetes Association Summer Camps Sponsorship Committee for Type 1 Diabetic Children, and chairs the Basket Raffle Committee for the Club’s “A Night at the Farm” Fundraiser.

Ann McBride

Board Member

Ann McBride, joined the club in 2016. Currently serves as Chairperson of the Grant Committee, and Co-Chair of the Media/Website Committee.

Ann is the Club’s Liaison with the Fox Valley Park District, and the City of Aurora for “National Night Out” in the 5th Ward at Washington Park.

Matt McCain

Board Member

Matt McCain became a member in August of 2018, joining with his grandfather and mother, to become part of a three generation club family.

Matt serves on the Media/Website and Fundraising Committees, currently assisting Insight Marketing Solutions, with the building of our Club’s new Website.

Matt suggested having a annual “Race to Fight Diabetes” Fundraising/Diabetes Awareness night at Sycamore Speedway, raising thousands of dollars, for our Club’s “Fight Against Diabetes”, earning Matt the Aurora, Mid-States Federation, and Cosmopolitan International “Rookie of the Year” Awards.

Kenlyn Nash-Demeter

Board Member

Kenlyn Nash-Demeter has been a member for 30 years, a Past President, and a Board Member for 10 years. Kenlyn served many years as the Club’s PR and Publicity Chairperson, and is a Past Recipient of the “Cosmo of the Year” Award. Kenlyn currently serves as Chair of the Aurora Regional Chamber of Commerce Committee.
